Cosmic Consciousness

Enlightenment is the ultimate achievement of the human spirit. It is the doorway to Nirvana. Nirvana is the cesation of suffering and transcendence of Samsara, or Cyclic Existence. Enlightenment is also known as Cosmic Consciousness. An influential thinker to do a thorough study of this faculty was Richard Maurice Bucke. He published the book Cosmic Consciousness at the very beginning of the 20th century.

Cosmic Consciousness is the new faculty of humans, so powerful that 1 moment of cosmic consciousness, after reading Walt Whitman, changed Bucke's whole life. He does a thorough scholastic study of famous religious characters, including Moses, Buddha, Jesus and Mohamed and concludes that these people were indeed enlightened, that is, they possesed Cosmic Consciousness. He goes on to identify who was enlightened for how long, why and what impact it had.

Most people believe that Enlightenment is something unreachable, something mystical and out of this world. But it is not. Enlightenment is simply to be truly and fully human. But the Way Things Are is that we have to take a journey of a 1000 miles, only to find out that we could have reached the goal by walking two steps in an enlightened way.

The Tenanant teaches that we can survive death if we perform a dance to Great Spirit in the presence of Death.

Death is always with us, one arm's length to the left. It is our only advisor. We enter this world through a mystical entrance called birth and we exit through an equally mystical exit called death.

The Eagle, metaphorically called so, is the Source that lends Awareness to every living being at birth, in order for it to replenish it and be consumed by death. The Eagle is the Cosmic Farmer of Awareness.

It is hopeless to pray to the Eagle or ask it favors, since it is impersonal and so much more powerful then we are.

The Eagle has made a deal with all sentient beings, namely that whoever remembers his or her life in completeness, can sneak past the Tyrant and gain Total Freedom. The mechanics of recapitulation, Life-Recollection, is to separate awareness from the lifeforce so that when the lifeforce ceases and the body dies, awareness can still exist.

If we live an impeccable life and follow the path with heart our will becomes the Will of the Eagle.
